Playa de Muro offers bicycle enthusiasts the chance to discover routes running close to the sea, and others that penetrate the interior of the island.
Moreover, the main tour operators specializing in cycling are located in Playa de Muro (Max Hürzeler, Easy Tours), and many of the hotels have facilities adapted for bicycle storage and repair.
Mallorca has a network of roads of over 1,200 kilometres. More than half of them are minor roads and B roads with an average width of approximately 6.50 m., enabling one to travel from the sea to the small villages inland. People who prefer the mountains will find over 150 kilometres of mountain roads in Mallorca, running through extremely beautiful areas.

‘Ecovias’, or ‘eco-routes’, are bicycle touring routes in Mallorca that are promoted by the Island Council to encourage cycling in combination with discovery of the island’s natural and cultural heritage. This network of itineraries is geared towards cyclists and anyone who wishes to enjoy a pleasant bike ride along routes far away from the traffic congestion of the main roads. These routes are characterised by privileged, varied natural surroundings, with traditional buildings and monuments. At the moment, the route is operational in 9 municipalities (Alcúdia, Pollença, Sa Pobla, Santa Margalida, Muro, Maria de la Salut, Ariany, Petra and Artà) in the north of Mallorca, making a total of 150.9 kilometres of alternative routes. |
